A low voltage disconnect prevents the discharge of batteries beyond a critical low voltage. The LVD contains a sense and control circuit housed in a compact, rugged, vinyl-clad aluminum case. It is installed in-line between the battery and the load. The unit continually monitors battery voltage and if it falls below a preset voltage threshold, the load is automatically disconnected. When batteries are recharged past another pre-set voltage the load is reconnected. connect and disconnect points are user adjustable.

Especially useful for solar pv systems (solar pv systems should be sized to prevent this condition but unanticipated conditions could potentially cause a deep discharge condition hence the usefullness of an LVD circuit).

The connect/ disconnect threshold is adjustable through potentiometers accessible through two holes on the cover beneath the label ?ACTUATION VOLTAGE?. You will need a small slot screwdriver to turn them. Clockwise rotation will increase the actuation voltage; counterclockwise rotation will decrease it. Note that setting the connect and disconnect points too close together can cause rapid cycling of the LVD.
