The BTD-CAT5-P1J Single-Port CAT5 PoE Midspan/Injector, also referred to as a PoE Passive Splitter or Tap, is a commercial-grade Power-over-Ethernet device that delivers power to a 10/100 Base-T PoE-enabled network device. It is compatible with Power Devices (PD) that support the IEEE 802.3af standard, utilizing Mode B (Pins 4/5 and 7/8) for power delivery. The unit supports both positive and negative DC, as well as AC power up to 55 volts. This allows for the use of a single Ethernet cable for both power and data transmission, eliminating the need for separate power cables or AC outlets.

The BTD-CAT5-P1J includes built-in surge protection for both data and power feeds, eliminating the need for an external surge protector. It is specifically designed to safeguard costly indoor equipment from damage, protecting against both common and differential mode surges. This device can also function as a standalone lightning surge protector.
